HP Officejet Pro 8600 Driver for Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, XP, Vista 32-bit – 64-bit and Macintosh

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One printer for $200 is the latest version of the multifunctional Officejet Pro 8500, which I flatter for its fast print speed and intuitive 3.4-inch touchscreen. The next iteration is built on that design, and the Officejet Pro 8600 gets an inside-out performance change with improvements to the printing press speed, a 2.65-inch color touchscreen texture, and a slimmer chassis that pushes the controls. panel to the far right side. It also brings printing to the cloud with ePrint and the accompanying iOS app, making Officejet Pro 8600 a very resourceful printer. I recommend it for home offices and professional environments that require a reliable hardworking printer.

Design and features

Officejet Pro 8600 printers removed shiny coatings in the past and replaced them with modern matte paint jobs that did their best to hide dust and fingerprints. It has a professional look that should easily fit into an office or home décor, although with a height of 11.8 inches, a width of 19.4 inches, and a depth of 18.1 inches, you need to free up space large enough to fit its large chassis. However, it's slightly smaller than the other two printers on the line, the fat Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and Officejet Pro 8600 Premium. All three models have two notched handles on the sides that make them easier to transport, although you don't want to move them every day.

A 250-sheet input tray protrudes out 4 inches from the front of Officejet and a 50-page automatic document supplier (ADF) is on it. You won't find manual feeding trays in the center console as you'd find on a laser printer, which might be annoying if you print on irregular media such as thick card stock or an un standard envelope size. If that's important to you, I recommend the HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP, an HP capable laser printer with similar scanners, copiers and all-in-one printer functions.

If the Pro 8600 paper input capacity is insufficient, the Premium model includes an extra 250-sheet paper tray, a set of additional $60 ink cartridges, and a 50-sheet HP Premium Glossy Brochure paper pack, priced at $14 at Hewlett- Packard's online retail store. By upgrading to the Step-up Premium plan, you'll save about $50 on the overall cost of consumables, and I recommend taking advantage of these savings upfront if you plan to print lots of photos or graphic documents.

If you shop on a budget and don't need a 4.3-inch screen, the Officejet Pro 8600 is $100 cheaper than the Premium model thanks to the smaller 2.65-inch screen. The on-screen interface is the same, however, and you still get access to lightweight photo editing, ePrint, and standard print, copy, scan, and fax functions. Typing characters on the QWERTY keyboard resulted in more errors on smaller screens, but I couldn't tell the difference after a few exercises and precision taps.

This updated screen also has a softer game between the out-facing screen and the hard registration pad underneath, so you're less likely to press the wrong button. The screen is still not perfect - some features on the screen require me to repeatedly push the corresponding virtual icon until the action is finally registered. In the absence of a way to recalibrate the screen on the settings page, you're in a frustrating experience until the printer gets what you're trying to do.

In addition to using a direct USB connection (like most vendors, HP doesn't include a USB cable with a printer), you can set up Officejet Pro 8600 on your network over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. I tested the Wi-Fi connection and found that the process was easy: using a touch screen printer, I navigated through several settings screens to find our network, quickly entered its password using a virtual QWERTY keyboard, and made a connection in a minute. Macs and PCs on our network can both view printers without installing additional software.
